Reflective Supervision Learning Collaborative
For professionals providing supervision in systems serving infants, young children, and their families
Reflective Supervision is a relationship for learning.
It is a partnership that nurtures awareness through a process of remembering, reviewing, and thinking out loud together.
Reflective supervision is an on-going best practice for the professionals who provide relationship-focused promotion, prevention and treatment to young children and their families.
Participating in reflective supervision is beneficial for both the recipient and those they serve. Reflective Supervision:
- Is a trauma-informed practice
- Reduces vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue
- Decreases staff turnover
- Is a safe place to explore biases and cultural nuances
- Supports best practices
- Promotes professional development
- Increases job satisfaction, efficacy, and responsiveness
- Fills the buckets of staff so they can fill the buckets of parents so they can fill the buckets of their children
