What is the FAN Approach?

The FAN (Facilitating Attuned iNteractions) Approach serves as a framework for parent engagement and reflective practice in work with young children and families.

The FAN is all about helping people feel understood and connected—because when we feel safe and supported, we’re more open to learning and growing.

When you’re calm and present, you’re better able to support others—and that’s what FAN is all about.

FAN helps professionals to address the urgent concerns of parents or caregivers, while training them to tailor their responses to match the needs of the moment.

Professionals learn how their own emotions and stress levels affect their ability to be fully present with a family in the moment.

This dynamic training offers strategies to help professionals feel balanced in stressful situations and improves communication and relationships in your professional setting.

How does the training work?

FAN Level 1 Training is 12 hours total and can be adapted to virtual or in-person settings. It's designed for all professionals.

FAN Level 2 Training is 6 hours total. It's a series of 1-hour reflective sessions designed for supervisors to receive support implementing the FAN model.

FAN is a dynamic training experience for teams to do together! Trainers incorporate hands-on practice and real life application to practice.
