Foundations Certificate Training

A training for early childhood directors and teachers who want to discover how to support the social, emotional, and mental health needs of children 0-5 in order to serve them well.

Not only does this foundational training develop a baseline knowledge of infant and early childhood mental health, it gives time and space for reflection, which is hard to come by during busy days.

"This class has been informative and educational and I will apply what I’ve learned in my work.  Additionally, it has forced me to reevaluate some of the ways I look at things during the course of my work.  I appreciate that y’all have forced me to look at new, fresh, perspectives.  I am very happy that I took this class, as I feel like I have really gotten something from it!  Thank you!" -Foundations Participant

It’s hard to really hear what children and families are trying to tell us through their behaviors.

Sure, you have experience and trainings on childhood development, but have you really dove into the depths of the complicated issues surrounding infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) and the long lasting impact it has on children?

We've noticed that most early childhood professionals are still seeking to learn more, especially post Covid.

Since you’ve been doing this work for awhile, you might be feeling like there has to be more you can offer children and families. Their trauma, history, and concerns are often so much to process.

Maybe you’ve felt:

  • Ill-equipped to deal with the issues you’re seeing in young children
  • Discouraged when solutions don’t seem to fit the needs of your families and children
  • Isolated and alone in this work
  • Burnt out from little time for reflection and self-care
  • Like you want more to offer families

You're not alone.

Many, if not most, of the directors and teachers we work with felt exactly the same way.

They thought they were adequately prepared for whatever their career could throw at them.

After some real world experience, it was clear there was more to learn.

Here’s what one recent  participant had to say:

"I was initially skeptical because I thought I already knew a lot of the content from my Master's program; however, the Foundations trainers brought the content to life in a way that helped me gain so much insight into viewing things from a more culturally diverse perspective. I am very grateful for all of the personal and insightful stories that were shared."

In fact, one of the common issues we are hearing is that professionals working with children are seeing more challenging behaviors and are feeling overwhelmed and under supported.

Maybe, you’ve been feeling this way as well.

You aren't sure where to turn for help.

Until now.

Introducing:

Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health

Foundations Certificate Training

The infant and early childhood mental health support all early childhood professionals need.

I can't wait to start

Did you know that babies (0-3) create 1 MILLION neural connections per second?

Their brains are wired so differently than ours.

Healthy relationships matter.

As early childhood professionals, knowing the intricacies of baby brain development and how to set them up for social and emotional well being should be the cornerstone of your career.

Oftentimes early childhood professionals know some information about babies and their development, but don’t know enough to change their perspective or approach to their cases.

After completing the Foundations Certificate Training, directors and teachers can face challenging behaviors with an infant mental health lens. This shows a deeper understanding of the social and emotional development of babies, as well as what they need.

As the only infant mental health organization in the state, we are able to provide a comprehensive training from infant mental health specialists that will broaden your approach to babies and young children by helping you:

Articulate core concepts around infant and early childhood mental health

Identify ways to apply these concepts into your professional role

Integrate a DEI lens in your work with young children & their families

Create time and space for self-reflection and self-care

With Foundations, YOU can help babies THRIVE.
